  • Members of the 84th Test and Evaluation Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. and 706th Fighter Squadron Detachment 1, Hurlburt Field, Fla. compete in a tug-o-war during the New Old Squadron Luau the last weekend of April. The day brought members of both U.S. Air Force Reserve units together to celebrate the heritage of the 84th TES. The newly-reactivated squadron kept the name and Fighting Wizards mascot, but unlike the old unit which tested radar and electronic countermeasures systems, it is now integrated across the full spectrum of the 53rd Wing at Eglin AFB. After sifting through photos of the old 84th TES having a luau, Lt. Col. John Breazeale, current 84th TES commander, decided to have one of his own as a tribute to the squadron's past. The event also included a 1.5-mile run, volleyball, frisbee, hulahooping, sunbathing and a pig roast.
