COMBAT SHIELD

Staff Sgt. Scott Miller (left), COMBAT SHIELD technician, is observed by Staff Sgt. Samuel Sargent while conducting his first assessment with a USM-642 "Raven" test set at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The COMBAT SHIELD program serves to simulate enemy radar attacks by injecting radio frequency power into the antennas and receivers of fighter jets in order to test their responses. Sergeant Miller is a reservist with the 84th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., integrated into the Regular Air Force's 53rd Electronic Warfare Group at Eglin. The Total Force Integration team travels to fighter units across the world to test their aircrafts' readiness.
