Manch Elementary School's Thunderbird Reading Program graduation
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- (Far left) Col. David Rosso, 99th Medical Group chief of medical staff, congratulates student, Geovanny Lopez, on achieving the rank of chief master sergeant in Manch Elementary School’s Thunderbird Reading Program on May 23. Ceremony narrator Airman First Class David Paulk (far right), 99th MDG, headed an effort that brought 45 Nellis and Creech AFB Airmen to the school from March through May to read to the students as a way to help the kids with their reading skills. In order to be promoted, the students had to read a certain number of books and take a comprehension test on each of them. Lopez was also a graduate of STARBASE NELLIS, an academy hosted by the 926th Group that orients students with science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. (U.S. Air Force photo/Maj.
