The 926th Mission Support Squadron hosted the first Enhanced Muster in Air Reserve Personnel Command here Nov. 6.

The event was held to make contact with Individual Ready Reserve personnel residing in the Las Vegas valley in order to prepare them in case of mobilization and to verify their capability for world-wide duty.

"The main purpose of a muster is to update people's records, and then we can talk to them about what benefits are available to them," said Chief Master Sgt. Erik Anderson, Air Reserve Personnel Center. "An Enhanced Muster means we're able to contact members with specific Air Force Specialty Codes needed by the Air Force, in order to make it more productive."

IRR members are former military personnel who remain in Reserve status for a determined period of time after their separation from active duty. They do not participate in military activities unless activated by the president, but are required to attend periodic musters.

Nellis Air Force Base was one of the bases selected for the 15-20 musters held each year. The 926th MSS stepped up to organize the event as the squadron represents the largest Reserve presence on Nellis.

More than 60 participants listened to briefings on Veterans' Affairs, TRICARE, United Concordia Dental and finance, and also updated their Civilian Employment Information. They were then processed through a line to complete medical screenings and update addresses, and be provided information about recruiting, education and training opportunities. Participants were also eligible to get identification cards for access to base facilities.

"Our goal was to provide all the information the IRR members require and process them through the mandatory stations," said Maj. Amy Boehle, 926th MSS commander. "ARPC selected and notified the IRR participants, and our goal was to provide an organized and well-planned muster that accomplished ARPC's goals."
