The Air Force Reserve announced it will be an official sponsor of Street League Skateboarding, the first‐ever professional street skateboarding competition. Finals will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev., on Sept. 25.

The three‐leg tour will begin at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Ariz., on Aug. 28., and the second event will take place at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Cali., on Sept. 11.

The Air Force Reserve is teaming up with Rob Dyrdek and Street League to promote the Get One Now, Refer a Friend Program, where Air Force Reserve members will have an opportunity to refer qualified candidates to the Air Force Reserve. In turn, Reservists will receive two free tickets to one of the Street League events. All participating Reservists and Air Force Reserve civilian employees are eligible to participate.

"The Get One Now program accounts for almost 10 percent of the accessions for Air Force Reserve Command. If each [Reserve member] provided us with one Get One Now lead, imagine the increase in numbers to both the manning for the 926th Group and Air Force Reserve recruiting - it would be huge!" said Senior Master Sgt. Whitlow, senior recruiter with the 926th Recruiting Squadron.

Members can simply take candidates' information and submit their referrals after logging into the Get One Now Web site at www.Get1Now.us/StreetLeague. Members who do not have access to the Internet can call the Air Force Reserve Qualification Center at (877) 786-2372.

The more referrals Reserve members submit, the more tickets they will receive. In addition, members attending the events will have access to a VIP hospitality area and a chance to meet founder and host Rob Dyrdek, as well as other professional skateboarders. Dyrdek, also a professional skateboarder, is the star of MTV shows Rob and Big, and Fantasy Factory.

"The Air Force Reserve is very excited to be partnering with Street League. We appreciate Rob Dyrdek's continuous support, and encourage all Air Force Reserve members to participate in the Get One Now program," stated Chief Master Sgt. Barnes, Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service chief of advertising.

Reserve members may also be eligible for additional awards through the Get One Now program. The individual credited with the most accessions will be recognized during an upcoming Air Force Reserve Recruiting Conference in Orlando, Fla. This individual will also receive a bomber jacket, an achievement medal and an incentive flight, said Sergeant Whitlow.

Street League was designed as the pro contest series, with a real skate plaza course design inside world‐class arenas, the most prize money in skateboarding history, and real‐time scoring. Top skateboarders including Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler, Greg Lutzka, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Chaz Ortiz, Geoff Rowley and many more, will compete for a chance to win over $1.2 million in prize money.
