Our people are our most important asset

This past year has marked significant events in world relations, calling us to remain vigilant and steadfast in our mission. But vigilance is not exclusive to the battlefield; it is just as important here at home as we engage in our day-to- day activities.

The Memorial Day weekend is now behind us; hopefully you all took this time to relax, recharge and spend quality time with your loved ones. This past weekend officially starts our recognition of the 101 Critical Days of Summer and our requirement to be safety vigilant, to act responsibly and as good wingmen.

In addition to summer safety, the Air Force has declared 2011 "The Year of Motorcycle Safety." Since January of this year, the Air Force has experienced a 150 percent increase in motorcycle fatalities. So I echo General Fraser's words below that, "we cannot accept these losses."

Therefore, as you head out for summer leave, celebrations and outdoor activities, keep those safety measures in mind that have been provided through base briefings. Ask your safety superintendents and supervisors for guidance. And don't be afraid to speak up if you see something or someone being unsafe.

The mission of the 926th Group is crucial to our nation and world relations, and our people are our most important asset -- we cannot accept the loss of a single one.

A Message from the General William Fraser, ACC/CC

This year's campaign, "Summer is Hot," kicks off on Memorial Day weekend and extends through Labor Day. Our goal is zero preventable mishaps, and with the right safety focus and commander involvement, we can achieve the best summer safety record yet.

This year, the AF Vice Chief of Staff and the Assistant Secretary for Installations, Environment, and Logistics have declared 2011 "The Year of Motorcycle Safety" across the Air Force. When they mention an AF-wide 150% increase in motorcycle fatalities since January 2011, they are talking about us right here in ACC. So far this year, ACC has experienced a motorcycle fatality and a permanent total disability, along with countless close calls. We cannot accept these losses.

I challenge you to make this year's "Critical Days of Summer" ACC's safest summer ever. We demand much of our Airmen, and I expect each of you to invest the time to help them unwind and recharge safely.
