Brig. Gen. William Binger recently took command of 10th Air Force at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas. During his visit here Dec. 3, he took the time to answer a few questions about the NAF and the 926th Group.

Q. What are your initial thoughts and what has your experience been so far as the 10th Air Force commander?

A. "I look out over the 10th Air Force landscape and see thousands of professional Airmen. I'm very impressed and humbled to be leading the organization and building a team to get the mission of the Air Force Reserve and 10th Air Force done."

Q. What are your near-term goals for 10th AF?

A. "Something that's been weighing on my mind is readiness. My number one goal is to continue to provide combat-ready Airmen to combatant commanders. Another near-term goal is to transition through the numbered Air Force restructuring process as smoothly as possible --consolidating functions and eliminating functions in a measured, deliberate manner. We'll also define 'skip echelon' to determine what level of coordination is required and decide what needs to come through the NAF and what doesn't."

Q. What is your vision for the 926th Group?

A. "My vision is for the 926th Group to grow into a wing. I think there is plenty of need for reservists by the active-duty component that dovetails perfectly with Reserve capability. As missions and force-structure change throughout the Air Force, our manpower is our strength. My goal is to work with the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center and the 57th Wing to identify where we need additional Reserve presence."

Q. Any other thoughts you'd like to share with the force?

A. "I'm so proud of the Airmen in the 926th Group and what they do. There is an unmistakable warrior culture here. The men and women of the 926th have taken ownership; they know how they contribute to the mission, and their name is on the mailbox. I'm very happy to be associated with this group."
