78th Attack Squadron reaps two Outstanding Aircrew Member awards

Two members of the 78th Attack Squadron were recently named Air Force Reserve Command's Enlisted Aircrew Members of 2016. With this win, Master Sgt. Johann and Master Sgt. Raymond took two of the three awards presented by AFRC.

Johann was named Noncommissioned Officer Aircrew Member. He received this award for flying more than 950 hours and 400 combat missions. He also guided MQ-1 crewmembers through an emergency checklist during an impending engine failure, salvaging $8 million in combat assets. Additionally, Johann qualified 16 crews to provide combatant commanders with increased capabilities.

Raymond was named Senior Noncommissioned Officer Aircrew Member. He received this award for flying more than 630 hours and 170 combat missions, and tracking 81 vehicles to identify insurgent networks and bed-down locations. Additionally, Raymond served as the active-duty operations superintendent, managing 66 aircrew qualifications and schedules to enable 24/7 combat operations.

Johann and Raymond now go on to compete at the Air Force level for the Staff Sgt. Henry E. "Red" Erwin Outstanding Enlisted Aircrew Member of the Year award, representing the 926th Wing, 10th Air Force and AFRC.
