926th Security Forces Squadron

Mission

The mission of the 926th Security Forces Squadron is to Provide ready and lethal Defenders, advancing integrated defense to protect expeditionary Air Force missions. It maintains mission-ready Airmen while providing up to date training on tactics against ever-changing threats.

Background

The 926th Security Forces Squadron was constituted as the 926th Weapons System Security Flight on May 21, 1971. It was activated in the U.S. Air Force Reserve on June 29, 1971. It was redesignated the 926th Security Police Flight on Aug. 15, 1988, then the 926th Security Police Squadron on Oct. 1, 1992, then the 926th Security Forces Squadron on July 1, 1997. It was inactivated on Aug. 17, 2007, and reactivated on April 6, 2013.

The 926th WSSF was originally assigned to the 926th Combat Support Squadron on June 29, 1971. The unit was reassigned to the 926th Support Group on Aug. 1, 1992, and remained under that group until August 2007. Upon reactivation as the 926th SFS, it was assigned to the 926th Group on April 6, 2013.

The unit was stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station, New Orleans, LA, from June 29, 1971 to Aug. 17, 2007. It was relocated to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, effective April 6, 2013.

The squadron earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award in 1971-1972, 1978-1980, 1998-1990, and 1997-1998.
